Help 1,000 Children in Ghana Get New Hearing Aids
This weekend, 1,000 young children in Ghana will be given the gift of hearing. This project, led by my father, James P. Murphy, MD in partnership with the very generous Starkey Hearing Foundation, has been a labor of love for the past two years and is finally coming to fruition this weekend. The hearing aids have arrived in Tamale and now we just need to make sure the children arrive as well. We need your help in securing buses and food to transport children from all over the northern region of Ghana to Tamale, where my father's hospital is located.
I know right now, perhaps more than ever, it seems to be a time of giving. There is so much need in the world, and much of it right in our own backyards due to natural diasasters like Hurricane Sandy. I encourage everyone to donate wherever they can. For example, it's so easy to donate to The Red Cross (www.redcross.org) where you can make a difference for as little as $10! And, if you can find it in your heart to give just a little more, then I ask you to consider donating to my dad's organization as well, Medical Aid for Northern Ghana Inc (501c).
If you have any questions about where your money will be going or how it will be used, you can ask me. The donations received for this effort will be used directly for this cause, by my father and by nobody else. You can rest assured your contribution will help make a difference and give children in the northern region of Ghana the incredible gift of hearing.

For those of you who know my father, you know that he's been living and working in Ghana full-time since July of 2007. He has been doing incredible work at the Tamale Teaching Hospital and thanks to amazing organizations like The Starkey Hearing Foundation and your own generous donations, he is able to do even more.
