Cornerstone Fellowship of Mill Run hasn't added a story.
Hi my name is Steve Olivieri
I'm the pastor of Cornerstone Fellowship of Mill Run in Altoona, PA. Let me take just a few minutes of your time to tell you of an great oppurtunity to help Altoona elementary school children and their families in a powerful way.
WHAT:
Cornerstone Church needs your help raising enough money to give a
backpack full of food every Friday to children who attend ACRP's
school-based program. We want to ensure these kids and their
families do not go hungry over the weekend.
In order to make this happen Cornerstone Church is partnering with the Mountain Lion Backpack Program.
What is the ACRP School-Based Program?
The Alternative Community Resource Program is a non-profit founded in 1989 located in Johnstown and Altoona, PA. ACRP services address abuse, neglect, and delinquency, as well as children who are at-risk, disadvantaged, or educationally or emotionally challenged.
ACRP also operates alternative education programs for students who are unable to perform in the traditional classroom setting because of these issues.
- The ACRP's School-Based Program in Altoona has anywhere from 6-17 enrolled students.
Some of these students face hunger at home and could benefit from a backpack full of food on the weekends.
What is the Mountain Lion Backpack Program?
The Mountain Lion Backpack Program (MLBP) is a non-profit program through Blair County Community Action. This community program is supported exclusively by the community. MLBP already provides 1,400 elemntary school children with backpacks full of food in Altoona. Every thursday evening during the school year faithful volunteers and staff fill backpacks full of food for each child enrolled in the program to take home over the weekend. This program is designed to ensure no child goes hungry over the weekend while fueling their bodies to learn better on Monday morning in school. It is a wonderful way to show families that really need some love and support exactly that!
Each Backpack includes: 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 2 dinners, 2 snacks, and 2 drinks.
How Can I Help?
The cost:
-
$3 a bag per child
-
$100 per child per school year.
Our Goal: $1,700
**This would ensure every child in the ACRP School-Based program has a backpack full of food for their families for the rest of the year.**
This is where YOU come in: Give a one time tax deductible donation of $3, $10, $20, $50, $100, $500 or whatever God tugs on your heart strings to give.
When life is already so difficult and often unforgiving for these kids, please consider helping to show them some love and encouragement today!
*All donations are secure via paypal. 100% of the donated amount goes directly toward the cost of food used to fill the backpacks of every child that is enrolled in the program for the weekend.
