Fundacion Red de Misericordia, the orphanage ministry of Iglesia Bautista de la Gracia, has been granted preferred orphanage status by the Dominican Republic government – the first private organization to receive such status.
The Fundacion recently built and moved to a new facility which houses all the orphans under one roof and one location. We currently care for infants, toddlers, and teenage girls. Care for teenage boys will be established as soon as the resources are available. The children are receiving the love, nourishment, education and spiritual nurturing that their own parents were unable or unwilling to provide.
One of the boys, for example, came from a home where his father killed his mother and then threw him off of a four-story building. The boy survived, but has a permanent limp to remind him of his broken past. Thanks to Fundacion Red de Misericordia, however, he and dozens of other children now have hope.
Our desire is to care for every child housed at the Orphange and increase the number of children we can help. Currently we have about 93 children that we care for but our vision is to house 250 of these precious kids. With your financial help and volunteer efforts we'll be able to accomplish our goal.
