Help a community heal. Help Forest Action Network director Tsastilqualus Dawna Ambers return home to Alert Bay, BC on February 16 to attend a historic gathering for residential school survivors.
The Kwakwaka'wakw community is coming together this month to finally demolish the old Anglican-run residential school, a mouldering symbol of colonialism and a painful reminder of the abuse and suffering inflicted on young indigenous children.
Please be a sponsor for Tsastilqualus' bus travel, food, and supplies for the week. She and other survivors are being trained in handling hazardous materials before they dismantle the old Anglican school. Then the community is gathering to remember the children who never came home, and celebrate the new life that comes from the ashes of the old.
