Mi nombre es Loreto Madrid, formo parte del Colectivo Cabildo Ciudadano de Los Molles, grupo organizado de vecinos, veranentes y amantes de los Molles que ante el inminente deterioro de nuestro entorno natural nos involucramos activamente en la protección y conservación de la naturaleza.

Nuestra misión es detener la pérdida de hábitat, la destrucción del paisaje, el daño irreparable de especies silvestres y fuentes de agua dulce, que actualmente está sufriendo nuestro Humedal, afectando al ecosistema y la vida humana en nuestra localidad.

I am Loreto Madrid, I am part of the Collective “Cabildo Ciudadano de Los Molles”, an organized group of Los Molles' neighbors, vacationers and lovers, who sensitized by our damaged environment, we actively get involved in the protection and conservation of nature.

Our mission is to stop the loss of habitat, the destruction of the landscape, the irreparable damage to wild species and sources of fresh water, which our Wetland is currently suffering, affecting the ecosystem and human life in our locality.

Los humedales son recursos ecosistémicos estratégicos por su función de regulación y abastecimiento de agua (UNESCO). Avalados por este argumento, nuestro Colectivo logró llegar a acuerdo con las autoridades locales, movilizar a la población e iniciar el proceso de inscripción formal de nuestro humedal en el Ministerio del Medio Ambiente de nuestro país.

Wetlands are strategic ecosystem resources due to their role in regulating and supplying water (UNESCO). Based on this, our Collective mobilized the population, reached an agreement with the local authorities and started a formal registration in the Ministry of the Environment of our wetland.

Gracias a los aportes recibidos en la campaña anterior para financiar acciones legales, hemos logrado detener temporalmente el avance inmobiliario que está quitando terreno al lecho natural del humedal. En junio de 2021 logramos que el Poder Judicial paralizara las obras de un nuevo edificio frente a la playa, y en octubre de 2021 logramos que el Ministerio del Medio Ambiente reconociera nuestro humedal como "humedal urbano" y lo incluyera en la lista de humedales protegidos por la nueva ley 21.202.

Ahora focalizaremos las acciones judiciales en el Tribunal Ambiental a fin de consolidar la protección del humedal en toda su extensión y reparar el daño ambiental que ha sufrido por contaminación de sus aguas. Esto significa un costo adicional de USD7000 (aproximadamente 5,5MM pesos chilenos), pero tenemos la convicción que es una causa justa y que la ganaremos!

Thanks to the contributions received in the previous campaign to finance legal actions, we have been able to temporarily stop the real estate advance that is taking away from the natural bed of the wetland. In June 2021 we got the courts to stop the works of a new building in front of the beach, and in October 2021 we got the Ministry of the Environment to recognize our wetland as an "urban wetland" including it in the list of protected wetlands by the new law 21,202.

Now we will focus the legal actions in the Environmental Court in order to consolidate the protection of the wetland in its entirety and repair the environmental damage it has suffered due to contamination of its waters. This means an additional cost of USD7000 (approximately 5.5MM Chilean pesos), but we are convinced that it is a just cause and that we will win it!
