Deaf Dog Rescue of America hasn't added a story.
Imagine going to the vet because your dog has been continually ill for the last two weeks, and is lethargic. He's all you have in the world, and he takes care of you. You can't take care of him because you don't have enough money.
He was at the emergency vet overnight on IV fluids, throwing up for over a week. At times, in obvious discomfort.
Chance arrived here at Deaf Dog Rescue of America on a cross country volunteer transport from Texas. He was scooped off the street by a Good Samaritan when she saw him surrounded by kids with baseball bats.
He is a sensitive boy who was very clearly smart. He is deaf. Meant to be someone's "heart dog". We could see how special he was right away when he arrived in CA. He was one of the dogs we so wished we could keep, but he had important work to do.
His Mom Christina was looking for a service dog. She lives in MA. Coming to CA to meet him seemed like an insurmountable challenge. Travel was a scary prospect. She persevered, overcame her fear, and flew out to meet Chance.
Since adopting Chance, he has helped her live a much more active and fulfilling life. She hikes with him to swim spots, runs marathons, and is able to take him to work. She is a social worker, and her clients love him too. She is rarely alone now, thanks to Chance. She has peace of mind knowing he will keep her safe.
Chance was seen over the last two weeks by two other vets. Lab work was clear and inconclusive. He improved for a few days and then was unable again to keep food and water down. He has lost a lot of weight.
The estimate from the emergency clinic is attached. The high estimate of $2228.49 includes diagnostic lab tests, an ultrasound, medication, fluids and hospitalization.
It's a LOT to raise. Mom Christina has already spent every dime she has towards his care. Chance "takes care of her and she is unable to take care of him". She misses him and is absolutely devastated. He is literally all the family she has.
Please help us raise $2229.00 towards getting him diagnosed properly, and treated. Please help us SAVE him!
Chance has given Christina a normal life. He is working towards Service Dog Certification.
Please consider donating towards his care, no matter how small the amount - it adds up!
We are non-profit, your donation is tax-deductible. Our rescue will make payment directly to the vet clinic.
