My name is Simona Badger and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I provide Psychotherapy, Advocacy and Education through my private practice “S Badger Empowerment and Consulting Services, LLC” in Newark, NJ. In Honor of Men’s Health Month, I am hosting a conference to spread awareness about Men’s Mental Illness. There is a silent crisis in Men’s Mental Health as researchers are revealing that Men make up over 75 percent of suicide victims in the United States. Though both Men and Women suffer from Depression and Anxiety, men’s symptoms are often overlooked until it worsens. Men are more likely than women to suffer from addiction and experience higher rates of overdose than women. I am finding that as more and more black male celebrities are sharing their experiences with mental illness and sexual trauma, more and more black men are seeking therapy at my practice. The therapy that I and my partnering male therapist provide is aimed at diminishing the Myths in Black Men’s Mental Health and Barriers To Seeking Help.
I decided to start this Fundraiser because as we all know Community Events such as Conferences and Summits are costly.
I would like to Thank You personally for supporting this conference, your monies will aid in destroying the stigmas associated with Men’s Mental Health.
The money from this fundraiser will assist in paying for the cost of educational information focusing on Men’s Mental Health that will be provided during the conference such as handouts, books and expert speakers. It will also cover the cost of tickets for youths and men who cannot afford to purchase tickets to attend the conference. Lastly, your donations may assist in paying for some therapy sessions for boys and men who are in need.
