Suzanne Castellane hasn't added a story.
My name is Sue Castellane; I want to share a story that has
impacted not only my life but the life of my family forever.
One beautiful fall Thursday in Septembe
r of 2017 I went to work like I did every day, but this day was
going to be very different. A few hours into my work day I received
a call that every parent dreads; my 29 year old son David was gone
dead by an overdose of heroin. I walked around for 3 years praying
everyday that I would not receive "THAT" call.
My
beautiful son David Aron grew up playing football, surfing, laughing
with friends. I remember those days like it was yesterday. His blond
hair, his laugh the love he had for his sister that was until Heroin
changed his world. David was in and out of rehab and the last time
he left rehab he was doing amazing he had a good job and was living
in Florida, working out daily. I do not know how he found heroin
again but the bottom line he was taken from this world way to soon.
In David's memory I along with family and friends will be walking to
raise awareness of this deadly epidemic. The organization is called
Stop The Heroin and is a non profit organization started by Bill
Schmincke who also lost a son to heroin.
You do not have to know David to walk or donate to this
organization.
The walk is Saturday May 18th in Atlantic City
2300 Boardwalk
If you would like to walk go to
STOPTHEHEROIN.ORG
I am also having tee shirts made the cost is 10$ a shirt
please message me if you would like one.
If you cannot walk
please consider making a donation.
Thank you!!

Stop the Heroin is dedicated to helping people who have successfully completed rehab transition into a sober living facility. We are often contacted by counselors who has a client who is going to be discharged but lack the funds to go into sober living.
Sober living is often an overlooked and under recognized but extremely valuable to ongoing sobriety. In fact, the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine study states "among those who stayed in recovery housing for more than 60 days, more than 50 percent were drug-free at six months"
Stop the Heroin is a 501c3 organization ran completely by volunteers. 100% of donations go toward our mission of helping people into sober living.
We take care of the deposit, administrative fee, and first two weeks. This can be anywhere from $600 to $900, depending on the facility.
Since April 2016, we have helped over 250 people into sober living. Most continue to thrive in their sobriety.
