We are the I-20 Wildlife Preserve and Jenna Welch Nature Study Center. We started in 2007 by conserving a playa lake and putting in trails, bird blinds, and a pavilion. We opened to the public in January of 2013 with an average of 24,000 visitors a year. The hub of the nature study center is our rigorous outdoor education program serving K-12 students, as well as undergraduate and graduate students. We've had visitors from 12 countries to come for eco-tourism, bird watching, and photography.

Our future is to construct the Jenna Welch Study Nature Center as a sustainable building within the "living building challenge." We believe that good architecture must connect people and nature through the experience of place. Buildings and landscape serve as a platform for this interaction and nature provides the raw materials with which we work.

Our wish-list supports our day-to-day operations. This list includes adventure backpacks for students, scientific signage, as well as adopting a classroom and sustaining our education program to bring children in the Permian Basin to the preserve.

Thank you for supporting the I-20 Wildlife Preserve and Jenna Welch Nature Study Center!
