Welcome to the Manny Vilar for East Hampton Town Supervisor page.  I am Manny Vilar and I want to be your East Hampton Town Supervisor. 

As a life long resident of the Springs area of East Hampton, I have been very fortunate to grow up and raise my family here. Along with my wife, Christine, we have raised our six children Matt, Brendan, Catherine, James, Manny and Thomas in this beautiful place on earth that we call home, East Hampton. My parents, Manuel and Amelia Vilar live next door to us where they tend to their extensive gardens and fruit trees when they aren't fishing or on their boat.Our oldest two sons, Matthew and Brendan unfortunately after completing college where unable to find employment that provided a sustainable living wage to remain in this town and like many others of their generation have had to move away to be able to start a life for themselves.  Matt now lives in North Carolina where he attended UNCW and Brendan lives in Baltimore where he attended UD. Our daughter, Catherine, a recent graduate from Suny Cortland lives at home with us and is currently working at Cook Maran & Associates.  Our three youngest children, James, Manny and Thomas attend Springs School. 

With our beaches, open spaces, surfing, fishing and a host of many other outdoor activities, I cannot think of a more beautiful place to raise a family.   However, that has increasingly gotten very difficult to do.  Like every other town in America there are problems that require expertise and a vast understanding of government. Your East Hampton Town Supervisor must be an expert administrator, manager and advocate for every citizen of our town.  I am dedicated to taking on these issues and challenges and I ask for your help to bring East Hampton government back to it's people...our families, friends...our community.

My 33 years of experience as a New York State Park Police Sergeant and founding President of the fifth largest police union with over 1200 members, the Police Benevolent Association of New York State, I understand public service and the complexities of local, state and federal government.  From garnering legislative support in the NYS Legislature, difficult labor contract negations of Collective Bargaining Agreements worth over 135 million dollars (which is more then the entire East Hampton town budget), human resources issues, administrating and managing personnel have all been part of my 33 year career.

East Hampton needs a government that has compassion, understanding and that is responsive to the needs of it's community. Your government must be respectful, insightful and be there for all citizens not just for a few.  East Hampton must be at the forefront of fiscal responsibility, environmental protection, conservation and community.

I am hitting the ground running and I ask for your help.

There are special interest groups that are at this very moment looking to forever change the facade of East Hampton with the wind mill project off the coast of Montauk.  These individuals are well funded, have the full support of the current Town Board and if they get their way between the corporate special interest groups and a Governor aspiring for higher political gains, they will forever change our environment and ultimately our town.  We can no longer allow to drive out our senior citizens with high taxes and high utility rates. We need well paying jobs to keep our younger generation here and our environment and economy are NOT for sale.
