Bring Back the Fun Farm! - A Haven Permaculture Initiative with TIAG

(TIAG) The Independent American Gardener

Bring Back the Fun Farm: A Sustainable Community Revival Initiative

Help Us Revitalize a Beloved Local Landmark!

We are thrilled to announce our ambitious project to restore and enhance the historic "Fun Farm" into a vibrant, sustainable community space teaming with Permaculture Demonstration across 15,000sq ft of commercial real-estate.

This beloved property has a rich history in our town, and we're dedicated to bringing it back to life with a modern twist that aligns with sustainable living and permaculture principles as part of our larger international efforts for (TIAG) The Independent American Gardener communities program.

Summary of Our Vision for the new Regenerative Community HUB known as the Fun Farm:

  1. The Forest:

    • Transform overgrown areas into a seasonal Food Forest with perennial plants and educational plaques for in person workshops.
    • Remove invasive species and replace them with native Missouri species to create an ecological permaculture demonstration in collaboration with certified Herbalists, holistic practitioners, and local colleges and Extension offices.
    • Collaborate with local professionals for educational youth co-op nature walks and regenerative agriculture courses for families.
    • Teach In Person PDC Courses to certify local Permaculture designers
  2. Turn the Drive-in into a year round Greenhouse:

    • Implement a greenhouse over the drive-through for year-round plant growth and community engagement in serene aquaculture demonstration.
    • Serve as a demonstration of closed-loop and passive systems design for rain-catchment.
    • Share Dine-in experiences in Tandem with "Leos" Smoothie Bar.
  3. Lulu's Garden (Retail Space):

    • Host a health food store with local products, including Horizontal Insulated Beehives and self-contained raised bed systems.
    • Feature a smoothie bar "Leo's" offering locally sourced organic smoothies and in house brewed kombucha, Kiefer, and raw dairy frozen yogurts.
  4. The Roof:

    • Create a living roof with dining space, a photography archway, and a rooftop pollinator garden for special events.
    • Install rain catchment systems to water the food forest below and demonstrate passive irrigation property wide through clear piping and water features indoors and throughout the exterior.
  5. Event Center:

    • Provide an entertainment space with a permaculture-Rain Forest themed mini-golf course and indoor jungle gym.
    • Host routine Date Nights, line Dancing, and Farm to Table Gatherings, and special events
    • Introduce professionals from the TIAG network to local Trenton through permaculture seminars, Webinars, hands-on workshops, and activities
  6. Outside and Building Exterior:

    • Maintain the historical brickwork and original "Fun Farm" doors with improved look, feel, and functional design elements integrated.
    • Redo windows to their original dimensions and redesign exterior elements with vegetation and water-passive features.
    • Rebuild the original roof with enhanced structural engineering for Green Roof demonstration and pollinator Gardens
    • Add Passive Solar arrays, Wind Energy systems and Solar Water Heaters to create grid independence by design and demonstration
