The American Planning Association Pennsylvania SE, APA PA SE, is offering to match donations to the Matt Honea Memorial Fund up to $500 until March 1, 2017. Donations should include “APAPASE” in the comments for matching funds.
When I started my foundation, Make The World Better, in 2013 I knew that I alone could not achieve my goal of helping communities to prosper through the creation of public spaces that are fun, accessible, and safe. The achievement of this goal would need to take a community and partnership driven approach.
In support of this goal, we were so fortunate to connect with Matt through our first project at Ralph Brooks Park and we quickly learned that Matt embodied all of the core values of the foundation, passion, empathy and creativity, all fueled by a community driven, connection-oriented mindset. Matt built bridges, not walls. He saw everyone as equals and treated every person he met with dignity and respect. Matt was a true mtwb champion as he was the type of person who made the world around him better in so many ways, big and small.
He loved Ralph
Brooks Park and could frequently be found there shooting hoops
once the project was complete. To honor his legacy and
thank him for his important role in getting this park rebuilt,
we have set up a Matt Honea memorial fund through mtwb.
All funds raised in honor of Matt will support the
mission of mtwb to rebuild parks in Philadelphia with special
attention to the park he loved most.
May Matt's memory continue to be a blessing to us all.
