Our Project

Live Love by Design: Give Back to Teens Project is a fundraising campaign that will fund the creation of a Docubranding film unveiling the true life story of Karen Chaston, Curious Teen to CFO to CEO; a story of overcoming the pain of making the hard decision to become a teen mother and put her child up for adoption while going to school and growing a career. The fundraising campaign will also fund scholarships for young women who face, have faced or will face the decisions required when unplanned pregnancy becomes a reality in life.  

Every brand, including Karen's, has an amazing story to tell about the founder and the purpose of their business. A docubranding film uncovers the story and tells it in an unique and interesting way. Karen's story reveals her heart and the reason for her being here, transforming lives the way she does.

For Karen Chaston, this work is very personal. After a couple of major life changing events, Karen began to wake from what she likes to call her Ground Hog Day Daze.  

Her newfound awareness assisted her to realise that her CFO life and the life of most of her peers, was diseased. She woke up to see it was a dog-eat-dog world where all were in survival mode and it truly was survival of the fittest, though physically they were not fit at all. 

Through, knowing that surely there must be another way, an easier way to succeed at such a high level, the Live Love by Design brand was born. Yet, there was more to this awakening that brought Karen to the point of taking the lead to address some of the issues that still remained unchanged for her, young women she encounters and that are devastating to so many individuals and families.

The Live Love By Design (LLBD) docubranding film highlights how the key events in Karen Chaston’s life, were all stepping stones leading to creating the Live Love By Design programs. The  LLBD platform that is a tool, elevating the conversation of awareness and change.

Here are a few things that Karen grew through that changed life for her:

• 1973: A pregnant 16-year-old teen who made a tough decision to adopt her daughter out
• 1978: Marrying young and eventually raising three sons with her husband of 40+ years
• 1996 - 2001: Studyied for her Masters of Accounting from Bond University, Gold Coast. Australia and CPA at age 41
• 2008: Became the CFO of a publicly listed company
• 2011: The unexpected devastating passing of her youngest son, Dan that opened so much new understanding
• 2012: Choosing redundancy from her CFO role when two companies merged
• 2012 – present: Waking from her ground-hog day daze and living in Life’s university to become more of who she was designed to be, living the life she's created by design 

Today, as an author, speaker, trainer, coach, and mentor who has undergone much soul searching about ways that her professional life, and the lives of her peers, could have been easier, Karen feels compelled to share her story, her programs, her passion, and her mission to help other women, especially teen girls at a high risk of pregnancy, and pregnant teens ...

... and all healing leads to Live Love By Design.

Fundraising Goal

The initial fundraising campaign is set up to raise $50,000. That goal includes a budget to create the docubranding film, the pilot series of a weekly tv show, with a modest production and marketing budget, as well as administer the delivery of digital and live programming to those who contribute.

As you can see, the film is a large part of the project. If you know anything about film, it is expensive, however, Karen has crafted a budget that is doable and allows her to get the film completed, as well as begin the tv show, all which will focus on the issues of teen and unplanned pregnancy, motherhood, moving out of victimhood, and living life by design.

The Docubranding Film

The Live Love By Design docubranding film will be utilised in three ways:

Firstly, to fulfill Karen's heart’s desire and passion by raising awareness around the issues young women face because of teen pregnancy. Utilising the Live Love by Design programs (on and off line), events and book, providing scholarships for as many young women as possible to have access to this on-line program will be made possible.

The Program:   Live Love: Keys to a Young Woman’s Success.

This program contains all the wisdom that Karen wished had been available to her, not only as a teenager, though also in her 20’s, 30’s and 40’s.

Karen believes that life would have been so much easier. She believes life would have flowed and she would not have had to struggle so much with her life changing decisions. She would have understood that life is All About You. All About Your Relationships. All About Your Expertise and All About Your Wealth-Creation. And more importantly, that you can create balance when you Live and Love by Design.

Karen has purposed that every young woman possible will have this program and the support to complete it. With direct interaction with Kared and her team, women will be empowered with the knowledge and wisdom to create a more fulfilling, struggle free life.

Secondly, the campaign funds will be utilised to implement a marketing strategy to approach producers about turning Karen’s book Teenagers Playing Grown-Ups into a 4-week mini-series. A story that takes four women from pregnant teen to middle age. They all choose a different solution to their unplanned pregnancy ~ Marriage, Abortion, Motherhood (single) and Adoption. Ironically these choices form the word MAMA.

After living their life on the path that choice put them on and knowing what they now know, the question surfaces ... would they still choose the same solution? The mini-series is designed to educate, empower and assist young women today who are struggling with deciding on one of these choices.

Lastly, this is the precursor to the launch of a powerful ongoing weekly TV show; Live Love By Design TV. The show will be a place where we interview guests, host panel discussions and round tables on topics that explore all areas of a woman’s Live Love Life.

There will be quarterly specials … one where we explore the decisions teens make, single-parenting and a mother’s self-care. In another, we’ll delve into one of Karen’s other books ~ Beyond a Mother’s Worst Nightmare, looking at the loss of a child, the grief of any loss; family member, marriage, job, never achieving your lifelong dream, the impact of traumas, and much more. Our objective is to empower and assist everyone to Live Love from a place of health and intentional design, versus the past and the hurt.
