Lindsey Brown's LBDI 2021 Campaign hasn't added a story.
My name is Lindsey Brown and I have been a member of the Junior League of Louisville (JLL) for 4 years. During my time in the league, addressing the challenges facing local youth has become a passion for me. This year, we celebrate our centennial, and in honor of the last 100 years of service and looking forward to our next 100 years, I would like to raise $200 to support our cause.
This week, I will be participating in the Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI). I will be wearing the same black attire for 5 days. The week-long campaign aims to highlight the challenges impacting homeless youth in our community to raise awareness and stimulate discussion on this important issue. Beginning in June 2020, our membership voted to focus on Youth Homelessness and Development within the Louisville Community. We have a strong 5-year plan for our impact in this area. Our plan was developed in conjunction with our main partners, Boys and Girls Haven, Coalition for the Homeless, Saint Vincent de Paul, and TrueUp. We are committed to assisting our partners to reduce the number of youth experiencing homelessness in our community. Much of our plan was formed with input from our partners who have received HUD funding toward the Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP), a program with the intention of eliminating youth homelessness in Louisville.
The Junior League hopes to stimulate discussion within the community while also raising funds to continue our meaningful work. The funds raised make possible the work and mission of the Junior League of Louisville, which includes voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. All donations are fully tax-deductible.
Founded in 2014 by the Junior League of London, the Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI) is a social media-driven awareness campaign and fundraiser. This is the second year the Junior League of Louisville has participated in this initiative. Advocates wear the same black attire and an LBDI button for 5 consecutive days to:
-
RAISE AWARENESS of the challenges impacting homeless youth in Louisville.
-
ILLUSTRATE how the JLL and its projects and partners are working to combat some of these challenges.
-
RAISE FUNDS to support the Junior League of Louisville, an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Our goal is $13,000 from the Fundrazr.com campaign alone.
Thank you for your support of JLL's 2021 LBDI Week!
