"Letters" Official Music Video
The "Letters" Music video
follows competing story lines of Jack serenading the ever-ending end of a relationship, reveling in the romance of it’s ever-escalating chaos.
The people behind the project are a team of dedicated DePaul film students, eager for a chance to learn more about music video production
From the Artist:
"
Hello! My name is Jack Sullivan and I write songs and stuff because if I didn’t I think I would go crazy and pull all my hair out. Right now, I’m studying voice at DePaul and learning how to be an opera singer. I love opera, and singing opera, in part because of how exacting the work is. The goal with that art form is to approach as close to perfection as humanly possible, and, when all the stars align, the music rises out into the air in this crystalline configuration that makes me believe in God a little bit.
I love songwriting because in many ways it can be the opposite of that. These songs can be imperfect and raw and messy in a way that is completely genuine and so, so far removed from what I do in my day-to-day. In this, perfection is not the goal. All this is for is simple communication. When I sing songs with my guitar, I feel like I am allowed to be scared in a way that is not tolerated on the classical stage. I don’t feel the weight of the expectations of the conductor, or my colleagues, or even myself. Miss Honeydew is about the weight of other people’s lives on your life, and how the hell you’re supposed to deal with it. If you’d like to throw some money at this project, I’d appreciate it.
Best,
Jack"
About the Director:
Adelle Johns is an independent filmmaker, student, and educator based in Chicago and Atlanta. She draws inspiration from a myriad of places but particularly it is her love of horror, feminist speculative literature, and her middle and high school students that push her towards stories that seek out humanity in obscure and absurd places. In 2025 she's been lucky enough to fall in love with music video production and is beyond grateful for the opportunity to share that love with some of her favorite collaborators at DePaul.
