Our community is coming together for another momentous fundraiser to help bring extraordinary Dunedin, Florida history to life for generations to come!
With your generous donation, large or small, the City of Dunedin and the Dunedin History Museum present a Digital Preservation endeavor of the famous and once spectacular 1925 Kellogg Mansion landmark, also known as Dunedin Isles Villa Marina.
After exhaustively pursuing all possibilities, physical preservation was proven unattainable. The cost in the millions of obtaining available land, moving the 18-inch masonry walled buildings, renovation, operations, staffing, and maintenance is unfeasible.
As a community, we faced unearthing a novel alternative to chronicle the landmark's incredible significance and set meaningful history straight. The answer before us is a more remarkable and unprecedented 3D public access utilizing ultra-modern technology at a fraction of the cost.

The overall cost of the project is estimated at $100,000, witch includes unique and defined tier deliverables, the final including W.K. Kellogg and the Kellogg Foundation's rich heritage in support of WWII U.S. Marine activities.
Tier
One has reached its milestone, contracted work has commenced, and
fundraising continues until Tier Two, then Tier Three milestones are reached.
The community has the final say in bringing years back to life to protect the legacy of the once magnificent property that spurred the development of historic Dunedin Isles.

Donations to this fundraiser go to Pinellas Community Foundation and will be granted to the City of Dunedin or another appropriate organization that will ensure the progress of Kellogg Mansion Digital Preservation Project.
With your donation, you understand that the project scope has been defined with the best available cost estimates and information at the fundraiser launch. Should the fundraising efforts fall short, or a quality virtual preservation project is not possible, collected funds will be put into a fund at Pinellas Community Foundation to benefit historic preservation in Dunedin.

Thank you to our contributors of the digital preservation efforts of the Kellogg Mansion! You have made a significant difference.
As a small token of our appreciation, we would like to invite you to a last-minute, exclusive evening celebration at the Kellogg Mansion before it’s gone forever. We will have a guided tour of the property and the mansion followed by a toast at sunset overlooking the gorgeous Gulf of Mexico from the grounds of the mansion.
We hope you will be able to join us.

Once we have a count of attendees we will forward you the parking details on Monday prior to the event.
Also, at the event, we’d love to give you an update on the digitization project and the great progress to date.

Over the past few weeks we’ve been working withUSF Digital Heritage and Humanities Collections. Dr. Collins and her team have been on site at the mansion to collect tons of data that is critical to this digitization effort.

Thank you to all of our contributors, you are amazing. We have accomplished Tier 1. The work of Tier 1 is already underway, including the licensing of photographs, collecting various media to be used for the project, and beginning procurement process for various work that needs to be accomplished.
We have increased our goal by $40,000 (new total is $65,000). If we reach the new goal, we will be able to accomplish Tier 2, continuing to build on the depth and complexity of the digital experience while including much more of the visual history from the 1930s Kellogg years through the renovations in the 2000s.

Matching Gift Alert: The Ruth and J O Stone Foundation has provided a grant of $5000 to our preservation effort. This gift will match other contributions. So far, $2,700 has been matched. We will need to raise another $2,300 to maximize this match. If we raise this $2,300 and match, we will almost finish our Tier One goal!

Our campaign has received a very generous matching gift contribution of $5,000 from the Deborah Kynes Fund, in honor of Dr. Ed L. Pointer and Dorthene Lessley Pointer.
All contributions to date have been matched. Your contribution will be matched, until we have matched this entire $5,000 gift.
