Rari and Kaci are 2 senior Italian Greyhounds who where given up by their home of 9 years recently.  Rari is in pretty good shape, but having no vet records for the last 9 years, his teeth are in pretty rough shape, and he's not neutered.  We have had senior bloodwork done to insure he's healthy enough to handle anesthesia.  We've spent about $150 on his care so far, the estimates we've received for his neuter and dental care should run between $400 - $500 after the extractions we're sure he's going to need (With bloodwork out of the way we where quoted $110 for his neuter, $180 for his dental, plus $20 - $35 per tooth for extractions, and we know he's going to need multiple extractions with as bad as his teeth are  We're sure the bill won't be under $400, we're anticipating it'll be a bit higher).  Overall he's healthy and should be in perfect shape once his neuter and dental are completed.  

Kaci on the other hand came to us in the opposite condition.  Kaci is in pretty rough shape right now.  She is about 12 years old now, She's emaciated, weighing in at only about half what her healthy body weight should be.  She has absolutely no palpable fat left, and severe muscle wasting.  So extreme even the muscle and fat that's on the skull is completely gone.  We have sent off some lab work to try and determine the cause of her condition, as we do not believe her condition is caused by lack of food.  She's got a long road ahead of her.  Her care has come to about $800 so far, but we're just getting started.  That's just getting a good start on figuring out what's caused her to be in the kind of condition she's in!  She's going to need a major dental and likely loose every tooth she has left, as they're ALL rotten.  Every last tooth in her mouth.  But at this time she likely would not be able to survive the procedure.  We need to determine the cause of this extreme wasting and get her stronger and healthier before we can address the dental issues.  At 12 years old she's no youngster, but we know we need to do whatever we can to give her a fighting chance at recovery!!!

We're setting our goal at $1000 right now, even though we're sure Kaci alone is going to cost us well over that to get her healthy again, but we have to start somewhere!  We will adjust the goal as needed as we get more answers on Kaci to figure out the extent of her condition and what care will be needed.   Donations for Kaci's medical care can also be called into North Ogden Animal Hospital, the account there is under Special Needs Poodle Rescue as we manage both rescues and it's easier to keep the rescue animals under the same account.  Donations can also be made directly through PayPal to IggyPalaceResue@gmail.com to avoid the Fundrazr fees.
