The Junior League of Louisville is holding our fourth annual Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI) this February 21-25, 2022, and we need your help!
As the Junior League of Louisville (JLL) enters our second century, we are continuing our legacy of developing women leaders in Louisville and improving our community through volunteer actions and collaboration. We have partnered with Speed Art Museum, Kentucky Science Center, Susan G. Komen, Maryhurst, and Boys and Girls Haven to improve access and quality of services to our community at large. In recent history, we partnered with WAVE 3 News and Jefferson County Public Education Foundation to bring Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to the children of Louisville and launched it into an independent nonprofit.
During our Centennial last year, we shifted our outreach and projects to focus on youth experiencing homelessness are partnering with Coalition Supporting Young Adults (Coalition for the Homeless) and other local agencies to bridge gaps in our community with the goal of providing support to at-risk youth and assist with their transition to independent living.
I am excited to be one of many JLL advocates participating in our LBDI week by wearing the same black dress or outfit for five consecutive days to help illustrate the limited choices people experiencing poverty face and open a dialogue on the issue of youth homelessness.
How can you help?
- RAISE AWARENESS of JLL’s focus to draw attention to the challenges for youth experiencing homelessness (ages 16-24) and how JLL is working to reduce that impact in the Louisville community through programs like Life Skills Training;
- UNDERSTAND how limited resources affect daily life;
- OFFER AN OPPORTUNITY for your network to donate in support of the Junior League of Louisville and our mission of training volunteer civic leaders and our development of new community programs; and
- SUPPORT JLL by donating today to help further our mission and the work we do in the Louisville community.
Thank you in advance for supporting JLL's campaign and sharing our messages.
Sincerely,
Michelle Black White
JLL President 2021-2023
Founded in 2014 by the Junior League of London, the Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI) is a social media-driven awareness campaign and fundraiser. This is the fourth year the Junior League of Louisville has participated in this initiative. Advocates wear the same black attire and an LBDI button for 5 consecutive days to:
-
RAISE AWARENESS of the challenges impacting youth experiencing homelessness in Louisville.
-
ILLUSTRATE how the JLL and its projects and partners are working to combat some of these challenges.
-
RAISE FUNDS to support the Junior League of Louisville, an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Our goal is $13,000 from the Fundrazr.com campaign alone.
Thank you for your support of JLL's 2022 LBDI Week!
