Salmon 'n Bannock spreads its Wings
From Reconciliation to Reconciliaction - truth and action
Salmon 'n Bannock is an Indigenous Woman Owned Bistro, and it about to spread its wings to YVR (in the International Terminal Vancouver), opening their second location. This is a huge leap for a restaurant that made it through the pandemic with the magic of generosity. With this campaign we are building on that magic and we hope you are generously joining in.
Salmon 'n Bannock is the only Indigenous Restaurant in Vancouver and when the pandemic hit, something magical happened. During the first lockdown, from one day to the next, Inez lost all their customers and was faced with a very hard decision. But... instead of considering bankruptcy, Inez decided to keep the kitchen open, and they started preparing meals for people served by two organizations working in the Downtown Eastside in Vancouver.
It was so unexpected and inspiring what she did, that people wanted to be part of it, and started giving her more money to feed more people. She could keep her staff working, while feeding vulnerable people at the same time.
Food is medicine, and in difficult times like the lockdown, sharing food generously, was exactly what kept Salmon n' Bannock alive! This is why we call this campaign: FEED THE SPIRIT
Now Inez is opening their second location, we need you to add to this magic, with generosity.
Indigenous Food at Vancouver International Terminal
This campaign is raise the funds to train and hire new staff, manifest the essence of the new location with local artists, and establish Salmon n' Bannock on the Fly at YVR, bringing Indigenous cuisine to new heights. With these funds raised, Inez and her whole Indigenous team, will also share many more meals with the same two organizations, Helping Spirit Lodge Society and Rain Spirit Housing.
Feed your spirit, support this campaign.
What can you expect at YVR?
Well, when you support the establishment of Salmon n' Bannock on the Fly, you are part of the generous village that is needed to give wings to Indigenous Cuisine, and you share food with the two Downtown Eastside organizations. When you come through the International Terminal, you'll have to stop to get the most delicious food for your flight.
Did you know ...
Did you know there are over 600 nations in Canada & over 200
of those nations are in BC .. yet there is only one Indigenous
restaurant in Vancouver...
One thing you might know is that 100% of all Indigenous people
in Canada have been personally affected by the residential school
system …
This has caused over 600 nations that need healing …
We have broken souls ..
With your help, we
will be able to help feed these souls …and lift their spirits
Food and culture bring people together
Food is medicine
Help us help others and help us bring wings to our cuisine and
introduce it to the flying public
What you contribute to with your generosity
Through your contributions to this campaign 'Feed Your Spirit', the YVR location of Salmon n' Bannock on the Fly will get wings, and will feed the spirits of many people who need healing. Food is medicine, and meals will be shared with the folks of these incredible organizations:
