The Problem

In Peru, hundreds of children suffer from severe scoliosis, a condition that deforms their spine, causes unbearable pain, and, if not treated promptly, can cost them their lives. Access to necessary surgeries is almost impossible for low-income families, leaving these children without hope.

Our Solution

The Escoayuda Association has dedicated itself to changing this reality. We organize surgical campaigns in which specialist doctors, both Peruvian and foreign, operate on these children free of charge. We provide all the necessary medical supplies for these surgeries, giving each of them a new life.

Our Financial Gap
Our operations were halted due to the pandemic, and as the waiting list grows, funds are running out. To resume our campaigns and operate on children who have waited years, we need $ 50,000.00 USD to cover the costs of medical supplies, equipment, and the logistics of a new surgical mission.

Surgery Cost Estimate

Total cost in Peru per patient (without outside help): $30,000 USD

Material costs (screws, rods, etc.): We estimate this cost represents 30% of the total, or $9,000 USD.

Surgery costs (fees, hospital, anesthesia): The remaining 70%, or $21,000 USD.

Thanks to the help of volunteer doctors and the discount obtained, the costs are as follows:

Material costs (with the 60% discount): $5,000 USD

Surgery costs (with the campaign): $5,000 USD (fixed costs)

Total surgery costs: $10,000 USD.

This is the minimum cost of scoliosis surgery under the campaign model.
