Our Story
My name is Jessica Sanchez, and I am the Founder and CEO of Daughters of Both Suns. I started this organization because too many Black and Latina women are navigating trauma, stress, and life challenges without access to the mental health care, education, and support they deserve.
Across our communities, women often carry the weight of family responsibilities, financial stress, cultural stigma around mental health, and systemic barriers to care. Many want therapy but cannot afford it, cannot find culturally competent providers, or simply do not know where to begin.
Daughters of Both Suns exists to change that.
Through our BridgeCare Navigation Model, we connect women to trauma-informed therapists who accept insurance, offer sliding-scale services, or provide pro bono support when possible. This model allows us to bridge the gap between women seeking care and providers committed to culturally responsive mental health support.
But our work goes beyond therapy connections.
We also focus on mental health education and community advocacy. Through workshops, community events, digital resources, and partnerships, we raise awareness about trauma, emotional wellness, and healing. Our goal is not only to connect women to care, but also to empower them with knowledge, reduce stigma, and advocate for more equitable access to mental health services in our communities.
The demand for support continues to grow.
Women are reaching out every day seeking help for anxiety, depression, trauma recovery, and life transitions. Many are navigating these challenges without the financial means or guidance needed to access care.
Your support will help us expand our impact by:
• Connecting more women with licensed therapists
• Supporting therapy access for those facing financial barriers
• Providing culturally relevant mental health education and resources
• Expanding advocacy efforts to promote equitable mental health care
Mental health care should not be a privilege reserved for a few. It should be accessible to every woman who needs support on her healing journey.
By donating to this campaign, you are helping us remove barriers, expand education, and strengthen advocacy efforts so that more women can access the care and support they deserve.
If you believe in expanding access to mental health care and empowering women through education and advocacy, please consider donating or sharing this campaign with your network.
Together, we can build a bridge to healing, knowledge, and lasting change.
Our Impact
Daughters of Both Suns is committed to expanding access to trauma-informed mental health support for Black and Latina women through direct connection to care, education, and advocacy.
Through our BridgeCare Navigation model, we help women connect with therapists who offer insurance-based, sliding-scale, or pro bono services when possible. Our work focuses on removing barriers to mental health care and ensuring women can access support that is culturally responsive and trauma-informed.
In addition to connecting women with therapy, we provide mental health education, community resources, and advocacy efforts that promote awareness, reduce stigma, and empower women to prioritize their emotional wellbeing.
Your support helps us continue building pathways to healing, strengthening our therapist network, expanding educational programming, and advocating for equitable access to mental health services.
Together, we are creating a community where healing, knowledge, and support are accessible to every woman who needs it.
