Send D'Arcy Symmes to the Global Finals!
Two STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and
Mathematics) teams from D’Arcy McGee High School, a school within
the Western Quebec School Board (WQSB) have qualified to compete at
the Destination Imagination (DI) Global Finals, an international
educational competition focused on student innovation and problemsolving.
Destination Imagination is a studentcentred program that
promotes experiential learning through openended STEAM challenges.
Participation supports the development of critical thinking,
creativity, collaboration, and applied learning—competencies that
align closely with WQSB educational priorities and 21stcentury
skills development.
This year, D’Arcy McGee students achieved outstanding success at the regional level:
- A Grade 7 team placed 1st in their division

A Grade 10 team also placed 1st in their division
As Regional Champions, both teams have earned the opportunity to
represent Gatineau, the
Western Quebec School Board, and the province of Quebec at the
Destination Imagination Global Finals, competing alongside top
student teams from around the world.
Request for Community Support
Participation at this level involves significant costs,
including registration fees, transportation, accommodations, and
materials. As public funding is limited, support from community
members is essential to ensure that financial barriers do not
prevent student participation in this valuable educational experience.

support student learning and help ensure equitable access to
enrichment opportunities.
