Our vision for Cambridge Pride 2021

Our Pride plans for Summer 2021 are underway! We hope to being pride back to Jesus Green in Cambridge, and will also broadcast the diverse and exciting entertainment online. Watch this space.

Cambridge Pride 2020 was sadly cancelled, in response to the health and safety issues presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. The safety of our visitors and volunteers remains our top priority in every decision we make about Cambridge 2021.

Saturday 12 June 2021

Cambridge Pride will be held on Saturday 12 June 2021, on Jesus Green in the centre of Cambridge.

We will be carefully monitoring our plans and adapting them accordingly to ensure we do not put one single person at risk.

We will be broadcasting a wide range of entertainment on the day, for those who can't attend, and this might also be our primary approach if an outdoor event is not possible. In this situation, your donation will still support the Cambridgeshire LBGTQ+ community in another positive way (such as online events or an outdoor Pride event in 2022).

We need your generous support to make it happen

The event will be funded by grant funding where possible and sponsorship from local and national organisations. But that only takes us half way to our target. As in 2019, we would like to do as much as possible through direct support from our community.

Where the funding will be spent

Cambridge Pride is organised by local charity the Pink Festival Group, which means we raise money that only goes back to the community. We are a not for profit organisation. Your generous donations will go towards the necessary infrastructure to ensure the successful, safe and accessible running of the event. Every single team member from the board to stewards are unpaid volunteers.  The charity helping to organise Cambridge Pride supports charities that offer year-round support to the LGBTQ+ community beyond the pride event (charity number 1163298).

Your donation

Every penny of your donation goes to the Pink Festival Group charity and is invested in events in Cambridgeshire that benefit the LGBTQ+ community.

If you’re interested in donating more than £500, or if you’re a business and would like to sponsor or partner with us, please get in touch with us directly.

Why a Cambridge Pride event is important

Here are just a few positive impacts we hope we can deliver by holding a large, public, centrally-located event celebrating LGBTQ+ identities and people:

  • We will affirm those identities and promote self-esteem among people in Cambridge. This will be a platform for us to say: we are proud of who we are.
  • We will bring people together and forge links within our community by focusing on involvement and celebration Although there are estimated to be 360,000 LGBTQ+ people in the East of England, the community is often fragmented due to rural isolation and relatively scarce services and amenities.
  • We will help to support local acts, artists and advocates by providing a platform.
  • We will help to increase equality and  visibility   of the LGBTQ+ community within the city and county. Increasing visibility also increases awareness of LGBTQ+ issues and promotes positive conversations, helping to challenge discrimination and negative assumptions.

Who we are

Cambridge Pride is organised by members of the Cambridgeshire LGBTQ+ community, working with the Pink Festival Group charity. If you'd like to get involved in the many months of organisation, please do get in touch at hello@cambridgepride.co.uk
