Rogers City needs a Bookshop!
My name is April Coburn, and I am proud to be the wife of a retired Coast Guard officer, a dedicated Catholic homeschooling mom, and a small business owner. After my husband's retirement, we embarked on a new adventure by purchasing our farm in Rogers City, MI, where we fell in love with the beauty of this vibrant shoreside community alongside Lake Huron.
For the past six years, I have watched with joy and pride as our quintessential American small town has flourished and evolved in the best of ways. Rogers City boasts a selection of charming, locally-owned establishments: cozy coffee shops, vibrant flower boutiques, a wonderful bakery, inviting restaurants and cafes, unique gift shops, stores brimming with local goods and art, and even a whimsical toy store. However, despite all of this charm, there is one thing notably absent from our community... a warm and welcoming bookshop.
Introducing Bagend Bookshop: a Tolkien-themed haven that will envelop you in comfort (as every hobbit hole should), featuring rows of classic literature, a beautiful and colorful children's section designed to draw young readers in, and soft, inviting seating for everyone to enjoy. However, this charming space will be so much more than just a bookshop! It aims to foster community connections through a robust variety of book clubs for all ages and a dynamic year-round early literacy program, ultimately nurturing a profound love of reading within each and every member of our community.
As part of Bagend Bookshop, we will also introduce a Shop Local Shipping Service, facilitated through our retail pack and ship center. Spring-boarding off my existing business, this service will empower downtown businesses to offer seamless in-house shipping for items purchased at their locations, blending the economic vitality and personal connection of shopping local with the drop-ship convenience of purchasing online.

What will the funds be used for?
All funds contributed will be used as startup funding for the brick-and-mortar location of Bagend Bookshop in Rogers City, MI. Startup needs including securing a lease, renovating and decorating the location, stocking inventory, and marketing.
Where will Bagend Bookshop be located?
Bagend Bookshop will be located in downtown Rogers City, MI, hopefully right on Erie Street or 3rd Street. We are currently seeking the perfect location for our storefront. While we have a particular location in mind, it's still up in the air and there are several options! We'll announce the address as soon as a location is secured.
What is Famula Fulfillment LLC?
Famula Fulfillment LLC is the small business owned and operated by April Coburn, the proprietor of Bagend Bookshop. Famula Fulfillment serves a handful of clients by storing their inventory, shipping their eCommerce (internet store) orders, and assisting in their customer service. It also does a small amount of social media management and other basic web service for those clients.
