A positive approach gets the most from youth and high school athletes, which is what coaches, parents and the athletes themselves want. Staying positive also helps youth get the most out of sports.

Throughout Beaver County, there are dozens of youth sports leagues, hundreds of youth sports coaches and thousands of youth sports parents.  Everyone involved in a youth sports program - from players to league administrators - shares a common goal of winning.  And that's a noble goal indeed.  We don't compete to lose, we compete to win.  But that goal of winning quite often overshadows a more important goal that youth sports can provide - building essential character traits in young athletes that create a foundation for future successes in life.  

The goal of this campaign is to raise funds that will allow us to bring two live workshops offered by the Positive Coaching Alliance to Beaver County that teach youth sports coaches and parents how to build a more positive culture for young athletes who participate in any sport.  We believe there will be community support from local youth sports organizations, coaches and sports parents in the Beaver County area who believe in creating this Development Zone culture that focuses on player development and positive reinforcement to create Better Athletes and Better People by teaching life lessons through sports.

Each contribution of $25 allows you to nominate a coach or parent (yourself of someone else) to attend one of the following workshops.

• The Double-Goal Coach workshop is an interactive, two-hour course in which attendees explore why and how to pursue both winning and the more important goal of teaching life lessons through sports.  All coaches will receive PCA Double-Goal Coach certification upon completion of the course, and the Power of Double-Goal Coaching book.
• The two-hour Second-Goal Parent workshop is intended for parents who's kids have a desire to continue playing sports at a higher level.  The session dives into motivational tactics that yield actual results, and provides a unique perspective from the athletes' eyes.  Parents who participate in this session will receive a copy of the Positive Sports Parenting book.

The Baden Youth Association (BYA) is coordinating this fundraising effort, and to further this cause has created a social-startup aptly named The Beaver County Positive Sports Coalition (BCPSC).  All funds raised raised by this campaign will be used exclusively for bringing these live workshops to our area for the benefit of the larger community.  Any funds raised above the campaign goal will be used towards purchasing additional perks for workshop attendees (i.e. giveaways, apparel, etc.).  The BYA will serve as the founding partner of the BCPSC and will hold the charter membership with the Positive Coaching Alliance, but in no way will it benefit financially from this fundraising campaign.

This is an "all-or-nothing" crowdfunding campaign which means we either raise the total amount needed to fund both workshops or the campaign is deemed unsuccessful.  Contributors are only charged if the campaign reaches its goal. Anyone who contributes $25 can nominate either themselves or another person (i.e. your favorite coach) to attend one workshop session.  If you believe in this cause but don't have anyone to nominate, we'll use your contribution to reserve a spot for a local coach or parent who didn't sign up themselves.  Ideally, we'd like to have close to 50 parents signed up for the parenting session and 50 coaches signed up for the coaching session, but we'll make it work even if attendance is uneven.  The workshops will likely take place mid-day on the weekend of March 23, 2019 or March 30, 2019.  We'll start looking at setting a date and location if the campaign seems to be reaching its fundraising goal.
