New Comer Knoll's story so far:

Knoll was transported to RCBTR yesterday from Tennessee. Along the way the transporters where calling to let us know that there was blood in Knoll's stool and urine. So we called up the vet to make sure that we could get him in as soon as we picked him up.

In Tennessee...it seems that Knoll was taken from a negligent owner. Probably a neighbor called into animal control that a dog was in bad shape. He was living on a chain with a padlock on it. There is a mark all the way around his neck where the chain had left it's mark. Thanks to who ever what looking out for this guy.

As soon as we got him we went straight to the vet. A number of tests were run, along with xrays, and a urine sample. This is what we know so far:

• His urine is full of blood
• The xrays show that his entire digestive track is inflammed and there are bone fragments in his intestine
• He is severly dehydrated
• He's emaciated weighing in at 32lbs when he should be around 50lbs
• He's anemic
• He has sores on his nose and some skin issues

We are going to go day by day and will most likely be back to the vet several times. The vet recommended a rice and chicken diet along with pedialyte. We are crossing our fingers that the bone gets passed through his intestine.
