Animal Cruelty Taskforce of Ohio hasn't added a story.
A new craze is sweeping the animal lovers of rural Ohio, and it's called the Animal Cruelty Task Force of Ohio (ACT Ohio)!
To read it from the Columbus Dispatch, click here!
To read it from the Marion Star, click here!
Founded by a Chief Humane Agent and Executive Director of a Humane Society in rural Ohio, ACT Ohio has one mission: Boots on the ground, saving animals in parts of Ohio that have lacked Humane Agent services in years.
We are 100% donor funded and receive no money from the County Humane Societies or Commissioners where we have established partnerships.
The enforcement of animal cruelty enforcement in Ohio is completely unfunded, your tax dollars are spent on other priorities.
If ending the pain and suffering of abused and neglected animals IS a priority for you, please consider making an end of the year tax-deductible donation to ACT Ohio.
In 2013, here are the top 10 things we have accomplished as we prepare to GO LIVE in January officially:
1. Established as a 1717.15 County Humane Society in Union County and removed the burden of Humane Agent Enforcement from the Union County Humane Society who can now focus on adoptions, spaying/neutering, caring for strays and other very important work.
2. Officially partnered with Champaign County, Hardin County and Marion County to provide Humane Agent services beginning in 2014. Between Union County and these three Counties, ACT Ohio now has over 2,000 square miles to cover in the beginning of the year.
3. Won a pending court case on the starved dog known as Skinny Minnie. Owner was found guilty of animal cruelty and is on our radar during his probation.
4. Filed six charges of animal cruelty for a horse starvation case in Union County with a court case pending in January.
5. Rescued six, one-week old puppies from a box in the snow in Harrison County where concerned individuals called us about a rescue with questionable conditions. Through our work with this rescue, we are now coordinating pulling approximately 45 more dogs in January and implementing best practices for rescues at the facility to improve conditions on site.
6. Suggested terms for improvement at the Belmont County Animal Rescue League through 2014 through the implementation of best practices for shelter management after speaking in depth to Belmont County Commissioners, BCARL Board, Staff, Volunteers and the community and touring the shelter.
7. Rescued an underweight pit through a voluntary surrender from rural Union County after monitoring a borderline situation.
8. Testified in Columbus by providing proponent testimony in support of HB243 at the Capitol, which would extend protection orders in domestic violence situations to pets in the home, as well as the abused.
9. Wrote a letter of support in repeal of the Reynoldsburg Pit Bull Ban.
10. Hired our first support staff, Champaign County Humane Agent and began recruiting for Marion and Hardin Counties.
