Your Belief in the Defenceless
As the year draws to a close, this festive season reminds us that it’s a time of gratitude to our compassionate and generous supporters. The true warmth of our festive spirit belongs entirely to YOU. Through your fantastic generosity and belief in the defenceless, we have been able to give help to many sick and injured dogs throughout 2025.
We’d like to remind you of some of them.
Remember Westie Hit By A 10-Wheeled Truck
We got an SOS call from a security man at a large factory who’d seen a puppy hit by a 10-wheel truck loaded with steel. When we found Westie lying under a tree, we knew he was in serious condition. His upper femur was shattered into four pieces, his intestines and bladder were ripped, and he was fighting blood parasites. His survival was in the balance. After multiple life-saving surgeries, including the insertion of several steel pins in his hip and leg and repair to his intestines and bladder.

Westie began his long recovery with incredible bravery. Today, he is a happy young dog who loves his walks, wearing a special brace to help strengthen his muscles.
Your donations helped fund his very expensive operations, his admission for over a month and his subsequent aftercare.
Remember Bobbi Heartlessly Abandoned
Bobbi was abandoned at a temple because she was too old to breed. When we rescued her, she was very thin, her skin was in a terrible state, she was full of fleas and was constantly being bitten by other dogs. We immediately brought her into the safety of our rescue.

During the wet weather, she became dangerously ill with her temperature swinging from a dangerously low 31 °C to a dangerously high 40 °C with infected lungs. She stopped eating and we thought she was going to die. But Westie, her pen mate, gave her the will to live and she started eating again. Very soon, she was back to her bouncy self.
The combination of your generous donations for Bobbi's vital vet care and medication, together with Westie’s doggy love, enabled Bobbi to eventually make a full recovery.
Paralysed Street Dog Endures Agony
When we first saw Deo, he was in a terrible state of terror and neglect. Found outside a busy supermarket, most of his ear was missing, crawling with maggots, and he was completely paralysed. While others looked away, one of our ex-staff stepped in and rushed him to us.

Deo’s ear wound was complex, requiring multiple surgeries to remove infection and repair the damage. Today, after diligent care, his terrible ear wound has made a great recovery and he’s started smiling. This holiday season, Deo is a symbol of the profound healing that happens when compassion meets resilience.
Your generosity helped us ensure Deo had the operations and ongoing treatment he needed.
Feral, Terrified and in Great Danger
We rescued a 3-month-old feral puppy who was surviving in the most appalling conditions, having clawed out a den beneath a fallen coconut tree. She was in imminent danger from locals who threw stones at her and from her dire physical state.

We managed to noose her back leg and drag her out. She was terrified and tried to bite us, but we quickly got her into a travelling cage and brought her to our rescue. We named her Cherry. Two tiny puppies were living in grave danger nearby, so we rescued them too. They became great friends, joined by two more tiny abandoned puppies and they all helped each other heal. Today they are a happy group of youngsters with Cherry as leader, illustrating that broken fearful spirits can mend together and blossom emotionally as well as physically.
You helped us give them good food, medicines, vaccinations and sterilisations with your life-saving sponsorship donations.
Answering Urgent Pleas for Help
While desperately raising funds for her street dogs, a rescuer discovered a dog lying outside a temple looking utterly broken and resigned. It had been abandoned. She noticed it had an advanced TVT tumor (transmissible venereal tumor) and was on death's door. She fed it and as she tried to leave, the dog cried pitifully and she knew it needed immediate help. That’s when she contacted us.

How could we say no? Without hesitation, the dog was rushed to the clinic for her life-saving first dose of chemotherapy. This lucky soul is now safe within the rescuer's own home for the next six weeks of treatment paid for by us. We know with absolute certainty that this dog's days of quiet, agonizing despair are over.
Without your compassion and generosity, we wouldn't be able to fund this sick dog's treatment.
Compassionate Abbot of 17 years evicted
A new Abbot and a group of monks have recently taken over a local temple. Due to a disagreement over the temple's future, the former Abbot, who served for over 17 years, was suddenly evicted from his home (Kuti).
He was forced to move his dogs and himself to an isolated, hard-to-reach spot at the top of a steep hill. He is now completely ostracized and not even allowed to come down for prayers and food. His only remaining friend, an elderly, frail monk who struggles with mobility, bravely continued to bring food for him and his dogs.

Now, tragically, this old monk has also been bullied out of the temple, leaving his beloved 27 dogs behind. We have been left in a position of caring for these dogs, some of which are struggling without their Daddy monk.
Your fantastic donations are helping us buy food for the monk and his dogs. He didn’t have any money even to buy soap, toothpaste and mosquito coils. We’ve also brought the most badly affected of the 27 dogs into our Healing Centre.
Support Our Gift of Life Program
During 2025, we faced many sad and difficult cases, but through your generosity we were able to give numerous suffering dogs a second chance. We supported struggling families with financial aid to treat their beloved animals and helped 100s of street dogs enjoy a humane future through our sterilisation program. Thank you for giving the ultimate gift:
The Gift of Life itself. The new year brings new challenges and
more dogs that need our intervention. We cannot do this without you.
Your contribution ensures that our critical programs, from emergency
medical care to large-scale sterilization, continues to save lives.
Please donate to keep our Gift of Life program running.
