In Jacksonville, especially in historically rich neighborhoods like LaVilla — once known as the “Harlem of the South” — the vibrant realms of fine arts and theater are quickly fading. Our youth are often left without spaces where their creativity can flourish, where they can question their world, or simply be seen.
The overwhelming influence of digital spaces has isolated families, particularly during sacred communal times. When my 11-year-old son, Emmanuel, became consumed by the digital world during his schooling, I realized this trend extended beyond our home — it’s an epidemic across our beloved city of Jacksonville.
At the same time, there lies a poignant character often overlooked in the nativity story: Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus. His silent strength, unwavering obedience, and profound sacrifice are stories that resonate deeply. Our youth and even adults require role models to exemplify the power of quiet leadership, to choose love over comfort, and to accept challenges faithfully.

The cultural silence regarding these stories, the generational disconnect, and the decline of opportunities for youth leave us at a challenging crossroads. But together, we can change this.
Introducing Our Solution
Join us for the bold debut of "Joseph’s POV," a live theatrical production that aims to reimagine the nativity story through the eyes of Joseph. Set against the historic backdrop of the Ritz Theatre & Museum in Jacksonville this coming November and December, this production will merge faith, modern perspectives, African-American history, and Gen Z storytelling into a stunning, unforgettable experience.
This play isn't simply an artistic endeavor — it’s a movement to revive fine arts, amplify unheard voices, and restore purpose and hope to our youth.
