A powerful vision hatched in the fall of 2015 has finally culminated in book form--and we need your help to bring it into the world!
The FVN Handbook: The Principles and Practices of the Fierce Vulnerability Network is scheduled to be released on May 28, 2022, by Nomadic Press. With this release, the Fierce Vulnerability Network (formerly known as the Yet-To-Be-Named Network) unveils its inspiring organizational DNA: Reparations, Direct Action, Fierce Vulnerability, Vocation, Emergence, and much more. We hope and expect that this very unique book will help activate FVN direct action teams throughout and beyond the US, and that it will also be a valuable resource for many other activists, community organizers, and changemakers.
FVN is delighted to team with Nomadic Press, an innovative justice-oriented publishing company, to bring The FVN Handbook to a wider audience, and we have agreed to split the front-end publishing costs of the book with them. We estimate our portion of these costs at somewhere between $3000-$4000. In addition we have paid artist Rachel Rolseth $750 for the wonderful artwork she has contributed to the handbook, and $750 to brontë velez, author of the handbook's remarkable foreword.
We are seeking a total of $5500, therefore, to be sure we can fulfill our financial commitment to this project. [Note: With 12 days left in the campaign, we've opted to increase our goal to $5700, upon realizing that when we initially set our goal we forgot to figure in the fees (approx. 3.2%) that Fundrazr would deduct from the total!] In the event that we raise more than that amount and/or in the event that front-end publishing costs owed to Nomadic Press come in lower than $4000, we will earmark any additional funds to defray the cost of book copies for folks who will not otherwise be able to afford the $16 retail price. This is in keeping with our network's commitment to the gift economy. We never want a lack of money to get in the way of someone having access to this very special resource.
