Shar Gaden Namling Buddhist Cultural Association hasn't added a story.
In 2001, what was formerly known as Gaden Shartse Namling Buddhist
Cultural Association, opened in Delhi as a branch of Gaden Shartse
Monastery, welcoming traveling monks and guests from all corners of
the world. In 2008, the unwavering commitment of 450 monks from
Shartse to continue the explicate doctrine of the Guru Tsongkhapa and
the wishes of the previous Venerable Trijang Rinpoche, began the
separation from Shartse and creation of Shar Gaden Namling Monastery.
In the division of property Shar Gaden was able to retain the Delhi
Branch with the new name of Shar Gaden Namling Buddhist Cultural
Association.
When our monks are traveling, especially to Nepal,
they generally have to spend a night or two in Dehli, and they are not
allowed at the guesthouses in the local Tibetan colony. We have
provided safe shelter and respite for our traveling monks. We also
have been host to many Rinpoches and Lamas, when they are able to take
time away from their Monastery responsibilities to focus on their own
continuing study.
Due to the separation from the larger Tibetan
populations and the declining economies over the last few years we
have experienced a major decline in our sponsorship and donations that
have allowed us to maintain this center. This cultural landmark is now
facing many repair and restoration needs.
Our current repair
and restoration project will not only allow us to host our precious
Lamas and monks in a comfortable and healthy way, but will also create
a few available rooms for other visitors, a reading library and
discussion room, give us the ability to offer meals. Our traditional
Tibetan environment, puja and meditation room, monastic staff, and
availability of Tibetan food can create unique experience and an
overall comfortable environment for those not accustomed to the hot
temperatures and other environmental conditions of India. It also
includes plans for revenue generating areas that will make us more
sustainable and less dependent on outside support.
So at this
time we are reaching out to our many friends and faithful supporters
for help so we can continue to provide this refuge for our monks, and
invite you to be a part of this important project that will allow the
continuation of this landmark. As you well know, all acts of giving
create great merits, but the merit of helping and supporting monastic
societies in general create vast amounts of merits. And the
opportunity to help those whose sole purpose is the continuation and
flourishing of the Gaden lineage and Lord Tsongkhapa’s precious
teachings in this world is unsurpassed.
