It all began with Toby Sr, a five year old Chesapeake Bay retriever who Charmaine and her husband adopted to be his forever family. Six months after adoption, lovable Toby destroyed the house, broke several toilet tank lids, rearranged furniture and locked himself in the bathroom. This happened almost weekly. Charmaine and Christopher were in love with Toby. Maggie the behaviourist came to rescue. She determined Toby was a dog who needed a job. He became a therapy dog at a mental health hospital. Charmaine was inspired by the power of the animal human bond, and the power of his unconditional love. He taught Charmaine how to be a better person, inspired her to become an author, and planted the seed for the kindness mission.
Leading the Million Acts of Kindness tour, our newest family member, Toby, our three year old dog, is following in Toby Sr’s pawprints as the Ambassadog of Kindness!
A Million Acts of Kindness tour aims to inspire one million acts of kindness. This September Team Toby will be travelling 10,000 miles across North America in a camper appearing at schools, conferences, workplaces and corporate events teaching the importance of kindness, acceptance, and respect through the animal human bond. This pet friendly adventure has one mission.... to build a kinder world for people, pets and the planet.
Our goal of this fundraising campaign is to raise funds for Toby to visit 12 different schools and youth organizations to engage and inspire 6,000+ students to commit to an act of kindness and make a pawsitive difference in their school and community.
For less than the cost of a coffee you can support a child to be a part of this kindness mission, meet Toby and get Toby’s kindness programs and books into that student’s school.
We know that 6,000 students can make a big impact in the world with a simple act of kindness, and could inspire more than 50,000 other acts of kindness by simply paying it forward.
