Tiffany Cardwell hasn't added a story.
Hi! My name is Tiffany Cardwell and I’ve been a member of the Junior League of Louisville (JLL) since 2009. I currently serve as the Sustainer Director and love what the League has been able to do for the Louisville community. I love being part of the League since it provides me with the opportunity to volunteer with a variety of organizations and to learn more about the needs in our local community. I've also loved being able to model for my family how important volunteerism is and giving back to our community.
I am excited to be participating in the 2022 Little Black Dress
Initiative. This week long campaign aims at highlighting challenges
that many youth experiencing homelessness are facing and how the
Junior League is working on projects and pairing with community
partners to combat some of these challenges.
The Junior League of Louisville has begun working with local partners
to provide funding and volunteer hours to offer resources for youth
ages 16-24 experiencing homelessness or aging out of foster care .
Many of our projects are focused on addressing needs in the
areas
of housing, safety, social-emotional well-being, and
education and employment. We want to stimulate discussion within the
community while also raising funds to continue our meaningful work.
The funds raised make possible the work and mission of JLL, which
includes promoting volunteerism, developing women leaders,
and
improving the community through the effective action and
leadership of trained volunteers. All donations are fully tax deductible.
A few of the ways the JLL is using unrestricted donor
gifts
include: providing supplies for mentoring events and
offering a life skills curriculum for local displaced youth, providing
meaningful volunteer and leadership training services for our members,
and so much more.
Wearing the same black dress or outfit this week is just a tiny representation of the limited choices people experiencing poverty face. I hope that this campaign raises awareness of the challenges some of our youth are facing regularly. With having kids of my own in the age group of 16-24, this year's campaign is very near and dear to me. I hope you will consider donating. Thank you!!!
Founded in 2014 by the Junior League of London, the Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI) is a social media-driven awareness campaign and fundraiser. This is the fourth year the Junior League of Louisville has participated in this initiative. Advocates wear the same black attire and an LBDI button for 5 consecutive days to:
-
RAISE AWARENESS of the challenges impacting youth experiencing homelessness in Louisville.
-
ILLUSTRATE how the JLL and its projects and partners are working to combat some of these challenges.
-
RAISE FUNDS to support the Junior League of Louisville, an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Our goal is $13,000 from the Fundrazr.com campaign alone.
Thank you for your support of JLL's 2022 LBDI Week!
