My name is Apryl Gresham, and I am raising money to assist in paying for legal fees. I believe that I'm not defined by my past. Everyone deserves a chance at redemption.

Dear Village,

Many of you who are visiting this page already know my story. For those of you who don’t, let me start by introducing myself. My name is April Gresham. I’m a native Atlantan, and a single mother of 3 awesome kids, Daija, Chloe, and King. In April of 2016, I stepped out on faith, and started Lashing Outt; an eyelash extension company. Since then, I have been working diligently to grow my brand, and leave a legacy for my family. Although I have definitely had challenges throughout this whole process; I have no doubt that starting my business was the best decision I could have made. Not only has it allowed me to provide for my kids, it also was the beginning of my path to redemption.

You see, throughout my life, I haven’t always made the best decisions. And I’ve had to learn the hard way that for every action, there’s a reaction, and for every choice there is a consequence. I've been dismissed from multiple jobs because of my background. Not to mention, the fact that technology has given everyone the ability to google anyone, and basically search their entire background; personal privacy is now obsolete. My most recent attempt to join the working force was sabotaged when a disgruntled colleague of mine discovered my criminal background. They immediately passed the information along to Human Resources, and as a result, I was asked to leave the premises. I was so discouraged, because I really loved my job, and felt like I was making a difference. I was convinced that I was on the way to making better decisions, and turning over a new leaf.

What do I do now? How do I take care of my 3 kids with no job? I was determined not to make some of the same bad decisions I made in the past. So I decided to trust in God, and stand on His Word. Shortly after that, I received a call from my hair stylist to come to take a class to become an eye lash consultant.

With nothing to lose, and more to gain, I decided to take the class. And shortly after that; came the birth of Lashing Outt! Things were finally looking up. I was able to manage and grow my business, be active and present in my children’s lives, and provide for my family. Most importantly, I accomplished all of these things without participating in any fraudulent or criminal acts. In fact, Lashing Outt has grown exponentially to approximately 1500 bookings by the beginning of 2017! I was also able to handle my financial responsibilities for most of the trouble I had caused in my past. My kids and I were finally on the right path!

Some of the poor choices that I’ve made in the past, have recently resurfaced, and are not only threatening my freedom; but could also take away the opportunity to raise my children. All of these good things that were happening in my life were in jeopardy of being taken away from me in March of 2017. A Cobb County police officer came to my residence while I was at work to pick me up for a case that dated back to 2014, almost 3 years ago. Because I have been so far removed from my past, I actually thought that the officers were there in error, and looking for someone else, definitely not me. I was on the right track and doing the right thing. I mean, I had truly changed my life. Not to mention, that there has always been a big part of me that felt a great deal of remorse for what I had done in the past. I thought that all of that was behind me, and that I would be able to continue on the right path, you know, my 2nd chance to get it right. After speaking with the officer, he confirmed that he was there for me. In the blink of an eye, my LIFE as I knew it was falling apart. I could lose everything, including my 3 kids!

Cobb County held me for 30 days without a bond. It wasn’t easy, but my attorney was finally able to get me a bond, it was $150,000. Thankfully, the bonding company worked with me by accepting a $10,000 down payment, which left me with a $13,000 balance. Thanks to my awesome family, dedicated friends, and loyal clients, they were able to help me raise the $10,000. In addition to the bond monies owed, I have attorney fees and probation fees too.

I have tried to do it as much as I can alone, but I need a few angels to help me. So I'm here asking for a small donation to help me work towards satisfying my financial obligations of paying the balance to the bonding company, and my legal counsel. Also, along with any financial donations/blessings, I really need your prayers. I truly believe that prayer changes all situations, hearts and minds. I know that God will never abandon me, and that He will see me through these trials and tribulations.

We all have a past. However, I refuse to let my past define me. God has given me the opportunity to change my life. I have worked hard to grow my new business, and be the best mom possible. So no matter what amount you can give, I truly appreciate your willingness to help me. I am not a statistic. I am an overcomer. My past is what I've been through it's not who I am TODAY! And I truly believe and know that my future will be better than my past.

Your support and donations will really help me to continue on the right path of being an awesome role model for my children so they can grow into responsible and model citizens.

Thank you in advance for being a blessing. I am eternally grateful. My story isn’t over. New chapters are written daily!
