Help A Neighbor: Lil Bit needs live saving surgery
UPDATE: Lil Bit was examined on Dec. 5 by Dr. Barrs, who said he is 90 percent sure the mass is a inguinal hernia - in simpler terms: a hernia located in her groin area. While that is much more positive news than anything "tumor" related, Dr. Barrs said surgery for a hernia as extraordinarily large as Lil Bit's could present complications. He won't know what he's up against until he gets in there. He added that while he always is conscientious to keep our costs down, he anticipates the surgery will cost closer to $500 - particularly if we take opportunity to go ahead and spay Lil Bit if he thinks she is up to it.
There fore, we have adjusted the amount needed for Lil Bit's surgery to reflect this cost, including the Fundrazr/Pay Pal fees.
Lil Bit is a seven-year-old chihuahua who desperately needs surgery to remove a mammary mass.
Her family are neighbors of SoCo Rescue here in Wheeler County, Georgia - some of the most caring individuals we've ever met. After raising their own four children, this elderly couple, Granny and Papa, raised their five grandchildren and are now themselves battling cancer, pneumonia, bronchitis and more on their fixed incomes.
Lil Bit's mass began growing slowly at first - about a year ago. Granny says she first thought it was an abscess caused when Lil Bit began imitating the family's Boston Terrier, Big Foot, and repeatedly jumped off the couch, over doggie gates - anything to hang with the "big dogs". But in recent months, the mass has began growing, and Granny and Papa realized the mass was something more serious - something that could cost Lil Bit's life.
Our vet estimates that Lil Bit's surgery could run about $350, depending on what he finds once the removal starts. By any standard, that is a very reasonable rate - but for this family who is already facing financial hardship and major medical issues themselves, it may as well be ten times that much.
The requested amount includes the Fundrazr fees.
Please help us bring some hope to this selfless family. Even the smallest donation will help us reach the goal so Lil Bit can share many more years with her loving family.
