Sometimes something is missed, and someone doesn’t feel seen. Sometimes care is delivered under impossible pressure. And sometimes, a small moment of genuine human connection changes everything — when someone pauses, listens, or shows compassion in a way that makes another person feel safe and understood.
I’m Jennifer, the founder of the Human-Centered Healthcare Movement (HCHM).
HCHM is a grassroots initiative focused on centering healthcare around lived experience by sharing short, anonymous stories from both patients and care providers about moments of care that were missed — or moments that made a real difference.
We are building a safe, trauma-informed digital platform where real experiences from both sides of care can be shared ethically, anonymously, and with informed consent.
Each story is carefully reviewed, anonymized, and handled with care. Together, they form a growing library of lived moments that reflect the complexity of healthcare — the vulnerability of seeking care, and the responsibility and emotional weight of providing it. These shared stories help patients and care providers better understand one another with empathy, respect, and humanity.
Over time, these insights can also support educators, leaders, and healthcare systems seeking to improve how care is experienced — for everyone involved.
Individual support plays a critical role at this early stage. While some grants fund tightly defined projects, this fundraiser allows the work to remain responsive, relational, and human-centered as it grows.
Your contribution helps cover the essential early costs of building this foundation, including secure web hosting, privacy and accessibility measures, story-submission tools, ethical review processes, and early user testing. It also allows us to compensate contributors and collaborators fairly when grants cannot.

How Funds are Used

Funds raised through this campaign are used to support the
practical, behind-the-scenes work required to build and sustain a
safe, trauma-informed storytelling platform.

Our current start-up micro-budget is $9,650 CAD, with every dollar directed toward participant safety, ethical story handling, and building a stable foundation.
All stories are handled through a strict trauma-informed process. Submissions are reviewed with care, anonymized, and published only with informed consent. Contributors may request edits or removal at any time.
