Hello, my name is Chidera Akano, and I am a part of The Peace Warrior Global Youth Program - 2025. TPW has an initiative called Ignite Minds of which the goal is to support less privileged students. As a part of the Ignite Minds Initiative, we are raising a total of $1290 ($430 per term) to support the tuition of 18 girls in secondary school who are at risk of dropping out due to financial hardship. As of September 2025, we have raised our first $430 with funds from both this fundraiser and through craft fairs and the money has been officially received by the recipient school in Nigeria, covering the fees of the girls! Let's continue to impact these girls and raise for the second term!
At Ignite Minds, we recognize and value education as an extremely powerful tool that can open up the doors to success. Yet, in Nigeria, only 42% of boys and 36% of girls complete secondary school, often because they cannot afford their fees and tuition. For many families, this lack of access leads to a generational ripple effect of poverty and economic hardship.
This disheartening issue hits especially close to home to me. My parents were both raised in Nigeria, and while they were able to afford an education and later on receive a post-secondary education, many others around them were not as lucky. They were forced to have their dreams cut short simply because they could not afford school.
That is why we have partnered up with a girls' secondary school in Nigeria named Cor Mariae Girls' High School Urualla. Eighteen students from this school are in great need of aid because they cannot afford to pay their school fees and without our help, they may be forced to leave school behind.
But together, with your donations and generosity, we can make a change and a difference in the lives of these girls. This is not just a matter of paying tuition, but a matter of breaking cycles, empowering futures, giving each of these girls the chance of success that they deserve!
