Rural Dog Rescue hasn't added a story.
Dolly is a Redbone Coonhound who was born missing part of her front leg. At the age of 3 her owner who had her since she was a puppy dumped her at a high kill shelter in a rural shelter that can euthanize after 72 hours. Hounds in rural shleters are often overlooked by rescues and adopters so a HANDICAPPED Hound would most certainly not have much of a chance of being rescued.
Fortunately for Dolly she was saved by Rural Dog Rescue - a rescue that specializes in saving "The Underdogs: - dogs that are high risk of facing euthanasia due to being a hound, a black dog, a senior dog or a dog that is sick, injured or handicapped!
Dolly is in DC now and is doing awesome at her foster moms. But in addition to missing part of her front leg, her left leg is showing curvature and pastern is weak. The orhtopedic surgeon says this is from the left leg having to overcompensate for the right and having to absorb so much of her weight. If the left leg continues to be under this much stress and sustains an injury, it will be a grim scenario for Dolly
So Rural Dog Rescue is raising funds to buy Dolly a new prosthetic leg! Estimated cost from the specialist is $2300!
Every dollar helps! Please donate and share!
Stay tuned for updates! We hope to have Dolly on all 4 legs again soon so she can find her forever home!
