Sadie came to SoCo Rescue
malnourished and very thin after having to survive on whatever scraps
she found while homeless and living at a local grocery store. Sadie
was in pitiful shape and in need of some TLC as well as her basic vet
care, all of which we gladly gave to her.
Unfortunately Sadie tested
positive for heart worms and was immediately started on the “Slow
Kill” method of treatment, based on our vet’s recommendation. Over her
a year and a half with us, a number of people inquired about Sadie but
always declined to adopt due to her heart worm status. But during one
of our recent New Jersey adoption events, Sadie found a wonderful, new
home after being adopted by the O’Leary family. Sadie is thriving and
doing very well at her new home and has a new best friend in the
family’s young daughter.
When the O’Leary’s had Sadie
examined at their vet’s office, the vet said they were told that Sadie
must have the “Fast Kill” treatment or “..she will die of congestive
heart failure...” within a few years.
The treatment for heart worms is very expensive and the O’Leary’s simply can’t afford this expense. They don’t want to surrender Sadie so we are working with them to try and help with this financial expense. We are setting up different donation avenues in hopes that we can raise the estimated $1,500 needed to treat Sadie. Any and all donations that we receive for Sadie’s treatment will go directly towards her vet care expense.
