Polina is a young Ukrainian filmmaker, whose film “Positive” was selected to be a part of Toronto HotDocs film festival. It is a great honor, and tremendous responsibility to present Ukraine at the world’s premier film festival.

And Polina needs your help to make this happen.

Представляти українське сучасне документальне кіно на фестивалі такого рівня, як HotDocsв Торонто є дуже відповідальним моментом для мене, особисто, і важливим для України в цілому. Бо хай як пафосно це звучить, саме так ми можемо більше розказати і показати, що відбувається всередині нашої країни, як ми бачимо світ довкола. А для інших представників на фестивалі це можливість відкрити новий, свіжий погляд на українське сьогодення через особисті історії маленької людини. Тому що крізь маленьке можна побачити, з чого складається велике. І, що незважаючи на складну ситуацію в Україні, окрім новин з гарячих точок, у нас ще є цікаве культурне життя.

A task to represent contemporary Ukrainian documentaries at the festival the level of HotDocs in Toronto is a truly crucial point both for me personally and for whole Ukraine. No matter how pretentious it may sound, it is the only way to tell more about what’s happening in our country, to show how we see the world around us. And for the other participants of the festival it is a chance to discover a new fresh look on the nowadays Ukraine through the personal stories of ordinary people. For this is through small we can see the great. And this is the way to see that no matter how complicated it is to live in Ukraine today, we still have something more than just news from the flashpoints, and that is our rich and versatile cultural life.
