Who We Are
ChallengeUS is an award-winning non-profit providing educational opportunities to engage and elevate student voices on civic issues through global competitions and scholarship prizes. To date, ChallengeUS has impacted over 1500 students representing over 1000 countries. For our efforts, we've been recognized by the United Nations and awarded the Youth Civic Solutions Prize at the National Conference on Citizenship.
What We Do
A recent survey from the Institute for Citizens & Scholars, one of the leading authorities on youth civic engagement, found that 90% of Gen Z say they deeply care about their communities, but 70% either don’t believe they can make a difference or don’t know where to start. ChallengeUS can help fill in the gap, by serving as the starting point on young people’s civic journey.
When people believe their voice matters, they show up differently in their communities, their schools, and their civic lives. Young people who are given platforms to write, speak, and tackle real-world issues develop not only skills, but a sense of ownership over their communities. ChallengeUS is working to create spaces where young people practice democracy through research, storytelling, problem solving, and civic imagination. We work to ensure young people have meaningful entry points into leadership, social discourse, and civic responsibility.

By donating to our Giving Tuesday Campaign, you’ll enable us to achieve our goals of expanding our reach, enlarging our awards, and broadening our programmatic offerings, thereby impacting more and more youth from every corner of the world in increasingly meaningful ways. Simply put, every dollar goes towards either reaching more students or innovating new ways we can engage students in civics issues.
