Grrrlfest is a weekend arts fest set a stone's throw from the iconic Brick Lane. Drag, drinks, art, music and talent!!
Grrrlfest is an artist led arts weekend. We realised that there wasn't really a space for women and queer people to make art and celebrate other people's art in one place, which is where we come in. Enjoy opportunities to create your own art in a safe space, and enjoy art in fashion, music and more!
DAY ONE - 15th August
But I’m a Zine Maker! - 3-4:30pm
Hosted by @rosie.zines - zine maker of 2+ years and femme punk lover
A girly, sapphic focused zine making session! Veteran zine maker Rosie will teach you basic zine folds before some free time to make zines (and friends). As with all GrrrlFest activities, despite us having a ‘girls to the front’ attitude, all are welcome!!
CUNTWALK - 7-9pm
A fashion show and shopping opportunity for small designers that haven’t yet been picked up by the mainstream. 7pm doors, a CUNTWALK catwalk of designers, and a delightful hour for you to buy some couture, network and find a new designer to bring your dream to life.
We will provide a soft drink table for donations, however, as long as everyone respects the house, each other, and the all ages policy, you are free to byob (bring your own booze x).
DAY TWO - 16th August
swapshop/art market - 11am-2pm
A few chilled hours of sustainable ‘shopping’ (aka trading old clothes for new ones!) and seeing new art!! Bring some old clothes (please be considerate and only bring fully wearable clothes - bear in mind someone will be wearing it after you) to exchange for new-old ones, and your purse for some irresistible art!!
upcycle clothes with liberty! - 3-4:30pm
Hosted by @libertykarianne - visual artist and performer at royal central school, london!
Have some old clothes that aren’t quite… you enough? An old
shirt to cuntify? A pair of trousers that need mending? Liberty will
help you understand upcycling techniques, provide materials to jazz
up your old clothes and give you a space to learn new skills and
meet new people!!
LAST GRRRL STANDING - 6-9pm
An acoustic open mic-cum-talent show! Do you sing, play guitar, write poetry or do stand up? We’ll give you five minutes and an audience, and you can perform for an audience! At the end of the evening, we will crown a light hearted ‘last grrrl standing’ award and close out the weekend!!
Again, we will have a table of soft drinks for donations, and again, as long as everyone respects the house, each other, and the all ages policy, you are free to byob (bring your own booze x).
Full ticket options are available on our eventbrite linked below! Tickets are only necessary for the two workshops, however we strongly encourage booking the evening events to guarantee entry, as the venue only has a limited capacity! Add a note to your donation if you wish to secure a seat at either the cuntwalk or last grrrl standing!
Donations allow GRRRLFEST to run. Any additional funds will go to our amazing venue, the House of Annetta, and to see that Grrrlfest runs next year!! We want to keep all of our activities as low cost as possible, however, unfortunately everything costs money, from hotels and venues to drinks and microphones. Even if you aren't able to come to Grrrlfest, your support means the world. If you're able to get a zine, or just spare a few quid to get Grrrlfest running, you're a true grrrlfriend.
Full ticket info is at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/grrrlfest-25-tickets-1412428915909 - come along!
