WHO ARE WE
Lake Worth for All (LW4A) is a grassroots group working for a city that values people and the environment over real estate profiteering. The donations from this fundraiser are managed by a steering committee of Lake Worth residents and allies involved with the WMODA fight.
BACKGROUND
Neighbors, local business and community organizations are joining to stop WMODA, the Wiener Museum aka "Sunshine Lake Worth Development LLC". The current plan gives $19 million in tax dollars to build apartments—skirting the required number of affordable units—and a parking garage that will force paid parking across downtown.
This development has very little to do with an art museum. What it really is: a massive change to the histroric character of Lake Worth Beach, home to a diverse coastal community of working-class people, that investors have been schemeing to displace in pursuit of increased profits for short-sighted real estate speculators.
We're a community that wants a say over our future. We want real sustainability, authentic culture, true housing solutions, and good governance from our elected and appointed officials.
We can do better than WMODA.
