No thanksMurray County Humane Society hasn't added a story.
Meet Wilson. He was abandoned weeks ago apparently by his owners because he stayed in the same spot except to wander to nearby houses to get food. We were contacted about this humble dog in hopes we could help. Initial meeting with Wilson didn't go well. He growled at a couple of the volunteers when they tried to put a leash on him. So we decided if he wouldn't let us take him in out of the cold weather, we could at least take him shelter. A dog house was delivered to his waiting place where he could at least get out of the weather & stay warm during his wait. Needless to say, one of the neighbors apparently didn't want him there either so they took him to the local animal control. It was discovered that he had an extremely painful condition called prolapsed rectum. He was schedule to be euthanized at 12:30 the next day due to this medical condition. We inquired about him the morning of his euthanization. We were told of his condition & his euthanization. That's when we set into action trying to see if there was any hope of saving this guy. Animal control held off til we let them know if we could rescue him. At 2:45 Wilson walked out of animal control, hoped in a volunteer's Jeep, & headed to the vet to find out if there was a possibility of saving him. At 4:45 the vet diagnosed Wilson with extreme hookworm & whipworm infestation causing his prolapsed rectum. He said that he would attempt to save him by doing surgery that same evening. That is how critical it was to save his life. This surgery only has a 50/50 chance of success so we are hoping that Wilson is on the winning %. To us Wilson had been dealt a bad hand until we came into his life & we want him to know that his life deserves to be saved. Please help us to raise much needed funding to cover his life saving surgery & parasite treatment.
***All donations are fully tax deductible since Murray County Humane Society is a 501c3 non profit organization. Any money raised over what is needed for Wilson will be used towards needed medical treatment of another pet in our care.
