The site for this new facility is Fort Benning, GA, the home of the Maneuver Center of Excellence. The new Museum will be a unique environment centered around a multifaceted structure that not only preserves and presents history, but also actively supports education, recruiting, retention, and public affairs. The National Armor and Cavalry Museum, to be built at Fort Benning, Georgia will honor the courageous men and women who through their sacrifices defined, defended and inspired a nation to greatness. This museum will be the premier location in the country to experience and appreciate the élan, heritage, and history of mounted warfare while at the same time contemplating its future.
The museum will be a 90,000+ sq. foot building, constructed on a 30-plus acre site, to showcase the U.S. Army’s Armor Collection, the best and largest collection of Armor and Cavalry objects in the world. This new Museum is designed to engage a broad spectrum of the general public -- military history buffs, tank and armor enthusiasts, historians, tourists and students. We expect the new museum to have 300,000+ annual visitors from throughout the world. Revenues generated from this tourism will provide a positive boost to the local communities surrounding Fort Benning.
