The employees of Beedie Development Group have initiated the Beedie 60|60 Fundraising Campaign to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the company.  Our goal is to raise $60,000 by February 2015, and the Keith and Betty Beedie Foundation has committed to match all donations up $60,000 for a total fundraising goal of $120,000. All proceeds from the Beedie 60|60 Fundraising Campaign will directly support a breakfast program and extra-curricular activities for children in need at Douglas Road Elementary School, in Burnaby. Our goal of $120,000 will ensure continuity of funding for at least a 4-5 year period!

There are numerous stories of children in the communities where we live and work, arriving at school hungry, without proper clothing and in need of help with the most basic necessities. After learning about the extent of need, the phrase “ it takes a community to raise a child” resonated with the Beedie 60|60 committee .

We chose to support the Adopt-a-School initiative because of the direct and visible impact their programs have within our local community. By ensuring that all children at the school are properly fed and cared for, we hope to improve the class attendance and create an environment where every child has the opportunity to succeed.

When we reach our fundraising goal, this will be one of the single largest donations ever received by the Adopt-a-School program. The Vancouver Sun covers all administrative costs of the charity, meaning every dollar donated, less the fees charged by Pay Pal to process your online donation, will go directly to the program. With your help, we can have a significant impact on the lives of many children in our community.
