Treystock C/O Community Foundation of Western PA and Eastern OH hasn't added a story.
ROUND 4! AND STRONGER THAN EVER!
If you were given a second chance at life, how would you choose to live? In October, 2010, Trey was lying in a hospital bed, intubated…sedated…with a gaping wound in his abdomen. After becoming septic from a perforated bowel, it was discovered that Trey had a cancerous mass in his colon. He nearly died at the hospital… twice.
By some miracle, doctors saved him. Trey’s soul would never be the same and neither would his friends’. On January 15th 2011, five local bands played in front of an audience at the rock benefit branded “Treystock” to support a fellow musician. While Trey was still too sick to attend, the night was electric and emotional- unforgettable. After enduring months of life threatening infections and grueling chemotherapy, Trey is a survivor.
Today Trey is still battling cancer. He is receiving chemotherapy to treat two small spots on his lung. However, Treystock is no longer about helping Trey. It's about paying it forward.
This will be the fourth year Trey and his friends have organized the annual rock benefit. Through the power of music, we will bring people together to raise money for charities that impact our lives on a personal level.
The charities slated to receive monies raised from Treystock 4 include:
The Ty Longley Memorial Fund- in memory of a fellow musician and friend who tragically lost his life 11 years ago at a Rhode Island night club fire while playing with Great White. His family continues to celebrate his legacy by donating to local non- profits that were close to Ty's heart. Past donations helped Joshua's Haven serving the homeless and the Animal Welfare League.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in memory of Richard Lighthall who lost his battle in 2013. His daughters and wife are raising money to honor Richard. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world's largest voluntary (nonprofit) health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services.
The Rotary Club of Sharon, PA whose mission is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders. Treystock is supporting the Rotary's effort to donate ALL accessible playground equipment to Buhl Park.
Musician Henry Rollins has been quoted as saying “Scar tissue is stronger than regular tissue. Realize the strength, move on”. We all have struggles and challenges. Adversity shall not consume us... The rush from overcoming adversity is what fuels our effort support something bigger than all of us.
Today we play to pay it forward...
