We are Theatre Artists for Palestinian Voices*, an ad hoc collective raising funds for Fragments Theatre, a cultural centre in the West Bank dedicated to children, women and youth, enhancing mental health through the arts.
Located in Jenin City, Fragments has recently experienced army incursions, gunfire damage to their venue (electrical wiring cuts, destruction of its entrance, damage to water network) and serious injuries to company members. They are continuing their work, creating a new theatrical performance with young people in the community. Our contribution will help them repair the damage and support their production.
To raise money, we are producing Staging Palestine: A Cultural Intifada on Turtle Island at the Theatre Centre in Toronto for two nights only, Thursday August 29 and Friday August 30 at 7:30 pm.
If you cannot attend the show, but want to support our fundraising campaign, we will ensure that funds raised here are added to the box office receipts and sent directly to Fragments Theatre.
All the artists and theatre workers involved in creating Staging Palestine: a Cultural Intifada on Turtle Island, are donating their time, skills and talent, and the Theatre Centre has generously donated the venue and technical support for the event. We are committed to bringing Palestinian voices to our stages as well as raising funds and awareness for theatre companies in Palestine. We also recognize the intersection with the ongoing Indigenous struggle for land and sovereignty on Turtle Island .
