We don’t shy away from the tough cases and often times this means the dogs we rescue require intense rehabilitation and costly vet care. We are not a boarding rescue as we feel dogs with already traumatic pasts can only deteriorate further in these type of settings. With your help, we choose to go the extra mile, and ensure they immediately get the specialized attention they need with one of our life-saving trainers or the best medical care possible depending on their needs. The rescue doesn’t end when we pull them to safety. In fact, it is just beginning. And while these dogs may not currently sit on a death row list, or in a horrific living situation at this very moment, they once did. BAMBOO was recently rescued from horrifying conditions. He was chained to an oven and starving when we first met him. In fact he was so emaciated and dehydrated that he had to be fed tiny meals multiple times per day in order for his body to properly process and metabolize the food. Initially, it was challenging to even walk him due to the fact that he was obsessively scavenging for food with every step we took. Slowly we nursed him back to health and now 14lbs later he is a healthy weight. Boo understandably needs training and guidance from one of our trusted trainers in order to teach him how to be a dog and learn tools to be successful in a real home which he hasn’t had yet. EDDIE is one of 32 dogs seized in a horrific dog fighting bust in Mississippi. He has just completed life-saving HW treatment and we are hopeful he will soon be declared HW negative. Eddie was horrifyingly used as a live chew toy for years. Understandably, he is heartbreakingly fearful of humans in certain situations. This is a critical time in his rehabilitation and we desperately need your help to get him the intense training he needs to work through these fears. Until recently Eddie never knew the touch of a gentle hand and we are determined to show him the world can be a beautiful place. Please help us do this. His life matters.
GEORGE, our beloved 15 year old rescue from Animal Care & Control was diagnosed just a few weeks ago with terminal cancer and had an inoperable adrenal tumor that was wrapped around his vena cava, which is the main vein that carries oxygen from his lower body to his heard. After extensive testing which included an ultrasound and a myriad of other tests we learned that the cancer had metastasized to his other organs. Heartbreakingly, George passed away last week. We provided the best care for him and did everything in our power to save him but we couldn’t.
ZION, our 9 year old super survivor with an undeniable will to live has just two more chemotherapy treatments and then she can take a much needed break as she is in complete remission. We are begging for your help to get her these last two life-saving treatments. Zion was diagnosed in late November with the very aggressive T cell lymphoma, stage 3. This is the second remission she has attained thanks to chemotherapy protocols, and her quality of life has never been compromised. Every day she plays ball and enjoys leisurely walks. And when she isn't being showered with kisses, or receiving her coveted massages, Zion relaxes on the couch and plays with her toys. Zion loves her life today and continues to live every day to the fullest as she has done since her rescue, and the rescue of her daughter Nya. Both were forced to live outside together and suffered year after year through blistering cold winters and scorching hot summers. And while we provided the best care for the girls that we could, day in and day out, for all those years, it was never good enough. Which is why we fought tooth and nail for their lives and their freedom which we ultimately won in court.
