Hi and thank you for visiting the 2nd Annual Live in Love Scholarship fundraiser page. We are delighted to continue such an awesome legacy by raising money to award a $1,000 scholarship for a teen mother.
Studies show that about 70% of all students drop out due to teen pregnancy. Pregnant teens who are Hispanic, African American, or from disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds, are more likely to be among the teen population to drop out of school while pregnant. Live in Love Community Service witnessed the direct affects of teen pregnancy in the community and began to make a difference. We are not encouraging teen pregnancy, rather, we are encouraging teen mothers to further their education in spite of.
Last year, we were able to award our 1st $1,000 scholarship to Sekhiyah Abdul who graduated from Indian River High School. She now attends Old Dominion University as a Human Services major.
We truly thank everyone for the love, donations, words of encouragement, and spreading the word. We wish to continue making a difference in our community by awarding our 2nd Annual Live in Love Scholarship.
With the launch of the Scholarship last year, we were able to witness a young woman meet challenges of motherhood while continuing her education. We are so excited and grateful to have made an impact in her journey. In addition, we were blessed to host a food giveaway to assist a single mother with necessities for her family.
Live in Love Community Service has served the community by offering Life Skills Workshops for adolescents to promote responsibility, healthy decision making skills, conflict mediation, effective communication, and more! We wish to offer more life skills workshops in the near future and partner with members of the community to further prevent teen pregnancy while inspiring individuals to reach their goals.
Our Scholarship committee consists of women who were teen mothers but continued to persevere and reach their career goals. We desire to motivate, equip, and inspire others to reach their fullest potential and meet their goals as well but we need your help!
